Advocacy with policy makers and cooperation with state institutions on SME issues

The Association of Business Women in Serbia, for many years now, is actively engaged in public advocacy with the goal to contribute to creation of better conditions for women’s entrepreneurship in Serbia as well as to improvement of business climate on the local, regional and international level.

Goals of public advocacy are achieved through continuous cooperation with institutions that support SME’s, development of the private sector, gender equality and job creation. In 2013 ABW Serbia established Public advocacy Committee in order to communicate with the government representatives in a more organized manner and to engage actively in identification, defining and solving issues that women entrepreneurs encounter. Mission of the Committee is:

  • To support initiatives regarding empowerment of women’s entrepreneurship;
  • To nurture quality communication and cooperation with relevant Ministries of the Serbian Government, National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and competent Committees for economic issues;
  • To influence the process of amendments to the law regarding women’s entrepreneurship, through constant dialogue with relevant policy makers.

Public advocacy Committee gathers successful women entrepreneurs who unified their activities in order to reach common goals. President of the Committee is Gordana Djurdjevic. Since its establishment, the Committee has successfully brought several of its proposals to implementation and continues to contribute to advancement of conditions for women’s entrepreneurship. Additionally, trough regular and project activities ABW Serbia takes and advocates new initiatives that support and empower women’s entrepreneurship in Serbia.
