ASSOCIATION OF BUSINESS WOMEN 11000 Belgrade, Volgina 15, Serbia, Tel/Fax: +381 11 2776-801 e-mail: spoffice@labtel.imp.bg.ac.yu office@poslovnezene.org.yu
Association of Business Women was established on July 30, 1998 in Belgrade, by a group of liberal, mostly young women, owners of micro and small, private businesses and professional women.
The Association consists of women from various professions. Most of our members showed a capability of running their businesses independently. Many of them have their own small, but successful firms; some are about to establishing their own business; and the most important potential of the Association are creative and ambitious women which succeeded in a short period of time to realize some of their entrepreneurial ideas. Those were educational programs, which our members created by themselves, but also many other activities, such as organization of exhibitions of women's craft and so on. In the Association there is a treasure of very interesting ideas, especial because women accepted the Association as "their own" place where they can freely and without any barriers express their potential.
Special value of the Association represents its dispersion on smaller cities throughout the country, so that members are not located only in the capital. That provides easier and efficient execution of projects, which we are realizing in co-operation with local women's associations.
The Association is regionally related with similar associations, which is more important after the democratic changes in FR Yugoslavia, and which make the functioning of the Association as a non-government organization much easier and enables realization of projects with partner-organizations in the region. In the period of its nine-year existence, the Association had a number of interesting projects implemented with the support by various donors that have been supporting the economic empowerment of women in Serbia.
OUR MISSION
The durable interest of our Association is vested in the continuous improvement of the conditions for the private businesses in the local communities in FR Yugoslavia, especially by creating equal opportunities for those companies, which are run by women through promoting local, regional and international links among businesswomen and other interested organizations.
The Association is regionally related with similar associations, which is more important after the democratic changes in Serbia
